COME SIT WITH US

Storytelling is the heartbeat of Indigenous culture as it the primary way in which our history and traditions have been passed down since time immemorial. We believe that our rich culture and wisdom of our Elders and Knowledge Keepers should be cherished, preserved and shared throughout Turtle Island. Through this initiative, Aambe Biibiingdige Nabatabiin "Come Sit With Us" - Our mission is to create a safe and respectful space where Elders and Knowledge Keepers can be video documented and share their  valuable knowledge, stories, history, and traditional teachings including language and song. By documenting this important knowledge, we honour the legacy of our Ancestors and protect our Nation's collective memory for generations to come.

We feel an urgency to develop and launch this initiative as we continue to witness Elders journeying back to the Spirit world, taking much wisdom and knowledge with them. It is a vital moment that we document as much as we can to ensure  our future generations have an opportunity to grow up confident with  strong connection to culture and Identity.

PARTNERSHIPS & SPONSORS

Elders are storytellers, teachers, protectors, healers and leaders of our communities. We are here to honour their legacy and we invite the community to walk with us on this journey as we capture the stories of our elders and knowledge keepers. We are seeking partners and sponsor this initiative as we currently do not have the resources to travel to Elders and Knowledge Keepers outside of Winnipeg. We hope to be able to offer these documentation services to members across Turtle Island and eventually be able to hire and train upcoming Indigenous Filmmakers to shoot and edit this knowledge to share online with the wider community.

If you are interested in partnership or sponsoring the initiative and would like more information, please contact
